Arizonans run in memory of fallen at 9/11 Heroes Run

Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. -

A heroes run in Tempe on Saturday morning honored the thousands who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

550 valley residents took off from the start line Saturday morning at Tempe Beach Park.

Among the crowd were police officers, firefighters and local first responders.

The events that unfolded on September 11, 2001 were heavy on their minds.

The 1st Annual 9/11 Heroes Run, a 5k race, was planked with the symbols and the patriotism that make America great.

Saturday's run was part of a national event. 15,000 runners across the United States hit the pavement to remember the men and women who lost their lives on September 11.

"We wanted to do something just patriotic and give back to our survivors and heroes," said Laura Hardwick, with the 100 Club of Arizona.

Crossing the finish line brought a sense of pride and honor to run in memory of the fallen, for a day that changed our country forever.

The event was sponsored by Planet Fitness and the 100 Club of Arizona.

Half of the proceeds go to the Travis Manion Foundation, who was a fallen marine, and the other half to the 100 Club.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.
