Apartment complex holds safety forum after ASU student was beaten unconscious

Posted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. -

A follow up on a story we've been following all week: a new high end apartment complex held a safety forum - just days after an ASU student was severely beaten.

Managers at the District on Apache teamed up with Tempe police for a safety event for students living at the complex.

Officials say they are taking the incident seriously to ensure their residents' safety.

The Tempe Police Department says it will continue to crack down on underage drinking and out of control partying.

"We're community members ourselves and we go out to do heavy enforcement to save lives," said Cmdr. Noah Johnson.  "As law enforcement officers, our job is to protect the public and frankly save lives and we have seen so many problems recently.. we can't stand for it."

The apartment complex is beefing up security to prevent future brawls from happening.

Step through the doors of Hope's Land of Candy in Island Park, Long Island and you''ll be taking a trip back in time. There's no WIFI but they do have a Victrola piano. And then there's the candy.. lots and lots of it.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
