PHILADELPHIA -

A little girl is recovering after being nearly hit by a car Friday morning at her Feltonville bus stop.

SkyFOX was over the crash scene at Third Street and Wyoming Avenue.

Police say they've arrested the man who was driving that car, 57-year-old George Streeter. He's been charged with criminal mischief and DUI.

Officers say the girl Streeter almost hit was saved by her quick-thinking babysitter.

Neighbors sprang into action to help 9-year-old Andreia Garcia after she was almost hit by a car while waiting for the school bus.

Police suspect the driver of a green Ford Explorer had been drinking. They say he ran a stop sign, then struck two Toyota Camrys, one headed east and the other headed west.

One of those cars that jumped the curb, narrowly missing one man and barreling toward Andreia.

Fortunately, her babysitter Nancy Duarte pushed her out of the way just in time.

"The caretaker probably saved the little girl's life by pushing her out of the way," police Lt. Frank Vanore said.

"The only thing she was thinking about at the time was trying to push my daughter out of the way because she'd seen the car coming that way, and the only thing she was run, run and take the kid out of way," said Glaucom Dias, the girl's stepfather.

He tells us his daughter suffered some cuts and a bump to the head after hitting it on the sidewalk.

"It could have been serious. I think we were very lucky here today," Vanore said.

Andreia's stepfather said he's grateful Duarte was there to save the little girl's life.

"I'll appreciate her for the rest of my life," he said. "There's nothing I can say to her, so I really appreciate her for what she did for me."

Another hero emerging from this story was a neighbor who also happens to be a combat medic. He heard the little girl screaming, he stayed with her, and he applied pressure to her wounds until help arrived, FOX 29's Kelly Hessedal reported.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
