1 lane reopens on Clairmont Rd., boil advisory in effect

ATLANTA -

Almost two days later, crews are still working to repair a busted water main on Clairmont Road, near Barone Avenue, in DeKalb County's Brookhaven neighborhood.

One lane of Clairmont Road, in each direction, had re-opened to drivers Friday morning. Here are some alternate routes from SKYFOX Traffic's Katie Beasley:

- Frontage Road to Briarwood Road
- Shallowford Road to Dresden Drive
- North Druid Hills to Buford Highway
- Frontage Road to Century Boulevard

The area remains under a boil water advisory affecting about 300 nearby homes and businesses.  The area is defined at the north by Plaster Road, to the east by I-85, to the south by Briarwood and to the west by Buford Highway.

"In an abundance of caution for our citizens and to protect the public from any potential health hazards, citizens in the affected area are advised to boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking or preparing baby food," said DeKalb County spokesperson Burke Brennan.

There was no official word on when the repairs would be finished and affected roadways completely reopened to traffic. Crews will not return to repairing the road until Monday.
