Toppled tree falls onto 2 homes, rips down power lines

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

A large and lengthy tree came crashing down onto two homes at Jordan Lane and North Decatur Road in DeKalb County early Monday. As the tree toppled, it ripped down power lines and snapped two power poles.

Utility crews assisted DeKalb County fire fighters at the scene to handle sawing up and removing the tree.

Authorities say only one of the two homes hit by the fallen tree was occupied. The second home happened to be vacant. No injuries related to the downed tree were reported.

Louis Stokes is the homeowner of the occupied home. He said that he had feared that recent heavy rain would cause the tree to fall.

"It's too close and the limbs are growing and I know that the higher they get, the weight will bring them down. I think the rain and the water made it do that," Stokes said.

Family members were relieved to find that Stokes and his wife were OK despite their porch and one wing of the house being buried under the branches. Stokes said he expected to be back in the home soon.

From coffee shops in Brooklyn to restaurants in Manhattan, we find speakeasies standing out by blending in. When people in Bushwick want a green machine juice blend they visit Leticia Castillo's Owl Juice Pub. But first they must find the owl. "We been doing fine without a sign," Castillo says.

Only 10 percent of people who get CPR from a bystander actually survive. But two young men in Westchester County have now patented a device that could dramatically increase those odds and save lives. John and Chris DiCapua's sitting room in their parents' Westchester County home has had a unique guest lying around for quite a while now: a CPR dummy. What began as an idea from their time as Boy Scouts is now a device that could potentially save lives.

Malcolm Smith. Halloran was also found guilty of taking payoffs from what he thought were developers who wanted him to funnel city money their way. The men were actually an FBI agent and an FBI informant.
