NYPD announces street closures for Labor Day weekend

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The NYPD announced street closures and expected traffic delays for August 31 through September 2.

Police say expect delays in the following areas:

Saturday, August 31

MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK

Manhattan: Daily through September 23

Closures: Area Bounded By

W 65th Street to W 60th Street

Columbus Avenue / 9th Avenue to Amsterdam Avenue

Streets in the above area will have intermittent closures as necessary for this event.


US TENNIS OPEN - FLUSHING MEADOWS CORONA PARK

Queens: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. through September 9

Location(s): Queens Arterials (Entire length)

Grand Central Parkway

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway

Cross Island Parkway

Long Island Expressway

Whitestone Expressway

Van Wyck Expressway

Queens Local Streets

Northern Boulevard between Junction Boulevard and Clearview Expressway

Roosevelt Avenue between Main Street and 104th Street

College Point Boulevard between 31st Avenue and Horace Harding Boulevard

126th Street between Roosevelt Avenue and Northern Boulevard

111th Street between Roosevelt Avenue and Horace Harding Boulevard

Astoria Boulevard between Triboro Bridge Plaza and 114th Street

Closures: No closures are expected however higher than normal traffic volume is anticipated.

Brooklyn: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Formation: St John's Place and Kingston Avenue

ANNUAL CELIC RUN

Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis said in a phone interview Thursday that the company is pushing to get its cashiers to "upsell" to afternoon customers. It's part of an effort to increase sales after stores have emptied out after the morning rush.
