ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A trial-level judge has ruled that New York's new gun law does not violate the Second Amendment. Today's decision from state Supreme Court Justice Thomas McNamara also rejected claims that the gun law was improperly pushed through the legislature by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

WHITNEY POINT, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they've charged a 43-year-old upstate New York man with making nearly 50 false reports of violence against children to the state child abuse hotline. Investigators say Harry Clauson of Whitney Point in Broome County made 48 calls to the hotline between September and February. Each call required immediate response and investigation by county Child Protective Services, state police or the sheriff's office.

KINGSBURY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have charged a member of the New York Army National Guard with raping a woman, and investigators say others have come forward claiming they were attacked by the same man. The Washington County Sheriff's Office tells The Post-Star of Glens Falls that 35-year-old Robert Haas of Kingsbury was charged last week with raping a woman at his home. The newspaper reports Haas met the woman while working as a recruiter for the New York Army National Guard in Watervliet (wah-ter-vuh-LEET').

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (SHNEYE'-dur-muhn) has reported income of nearly $298,0000 in his third year as the state's top lawyer, including nearly $43,000 from dividends and $98,000 in capital gains on investments. Schneiderman invests in mutual funds handled by financial manager Charles Schwab.
