NEW YORK (AP) - New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio appears to have solidified his spot as front-runner in the Democratic race for mayor just days before the primary.

A poll by Siena College and The New York Times released Friday shows that De Blasio is the choice of 32 percent of likely Democratic voters.

Former Comptroller Bill Thompson is at 18 percent. Council Speaker Christine Quinn is at 17 percent.

If no one captures 40 percent of the vote in the Sept. 10 primary, the top two candidates advance to a runoff three weeks later.

The poll of 505 likely Democratic voters has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

De Blasio held a similar margin over Quinn and Thompson in a Quinnipiac poll released this week.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
