Another active night of weather in Phoenix metro

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -

Rain, thunder and lightning descended on the valley Wednesday night, starting in the east and slowly making its way across the valley to the west.

And the west valley was where it did the most damage.

McDowell at the 303 was closed due to flooding, as well as I-10 and Estrella in Goodyear. We caught up with emergency crews responding to several vehicles stuck in 2 feet of water at McDowell and Citrus. Those motorists were able to walk to safety.

At least one inch of rain fell in the west valley in 30 minutes Wednesday night. Runoff quickly filled washes, intersections and other low lying areas.

About 3,000 APS customers in the west valley were without power. APS doesn't know when they'll have their power restored.

A flash flood warning was in effect for the areas of Goodyear, Luke AFB, Surprise, Litchfield Park, Buckeye, Tonopah and Avondale until 10:45 p.m.

There was also flash flooding in Pima County, in southern Arizona. Some roads were made impassible there.

FOX 10's Jessica Flores and Diane Ryan report from Goodyear and Kristy Siefkin has your weather wrap-up.

Revel Casino Hotel closed its doors Tuesday morning, a little more than two years after opening with high hopes of turning around Atlantic City's struggling casino market. The 5:25 a.m. casino shutdown followed the closure of its hotel on Monday. By mid-September, four of Atlantic City's 12 casinos will have closed, but none will be a costlier failure than Revel.
