REPORT FROM WORKFORCE INTELLIGENCE NETWORK

DETROIT – Online job postings in Q2 2013 were up 11.5 percent over Q1 2013, jumping to 72,941 from 65,444, according to the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN). The data, included in WIN's quarterly labor market trends report, includes available positions from the nine counties in Southeast Michigan. The full report can be viewed at http://win-semich.org/data-research/quarterly-reports/.

"The data reveals that employers are still looking for workers, although at a less frantic pace than a year ago," said Lisa Katz, WIN Executive Director.

For Q2 2013, WIN also found the following:

  • The most significant job growth continues in three key occupational clusters:
    • Information Technology
    • Healthcare
    • Manufacturing
  • The region's top 5 job postings for Q2 2013 were:
    • Software developers (3,061)
    • Sales representatives, wholesale and manufacturing, except technical and scientific products (2,245)
    • Retail salespersons (2,210)
    • Registered nurses (1,956)
    • Customer service representatives (1,639)
  • Each county and the City of Detroit showed gains in job postings in the Q2 2013 when compared to Q1 2013, except Macomb County.

"Overall, continued strong demand in the form of online job postings is good news for the Southeast Michigan economy," added Katz.
