Let it Rip Weekend: Mayoral race and EM's 'dumb & lazy' comment

We take on the race for Detroit Mayor and the controversial comments by Detroit's EM calling Detroiters "dumb, lazy, happy and rich."
A new poll shows Mike Duggan leading in the race for Detroit Mayor. Could those dirty tricks against him actually be paying off in his favor? Duggan supporter and community activist Malik Shabazz thinks

The NYPD practice of stop and frisk has been ruled unconstitutional by a Federal judge.  But Detroit Police say they've been doing it for years and have no intention of stopping.  So is it a racist tactic or does it save lives?  Mark Fancher with the ACLU says it's a flagrant violation of the Constitution.  But State Senator Rick Jones (R-Grand Ledge) says it's been successful in fighting crime and should continue.  Meanwhile, Fox 2 Photojournalist Joe Harris is torn about it.  He's been profiled in the past, but also sees how tough policing can be affective.

Also political commentator and radio show host Jack Lessenberry thinks it's time that Detroit and Wayne County think about merging.  He says it's worked in places like Nashville and Indianapolis.  It may just fix the budget woes and corruption issues both municipalities have experience over the last decade.  But Wayne County Commissioner Laura Cox is skeptical about what that joint venture would look like and what would happen to successful communities like Livonia and Grosse Pointe.

And in our third segment, Jack Lessenberry and Laura Cox stick around to talk about the political fallout of the Wayne County Jail boondoggle and if anyone should go to jail over the jail.

Report: health risks at some nail salons

    Monday, September 15 2014 10:28 PM EDT2014-09-16 02:28:27 GMT
One of the most surprising findings in a report from the New York City public advocate is that city officials have virtually no authority over how nail salons are run. The city can't enforce standards like they do with restaurants, so it's clearly a case of beauty buyer beware. We get our nails done without thinking too much about it.
