Obama, Biden Talk College Affordability In Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. -

President Barack Obama wrapped up the final stop of his "Make College Affordable" tour Friday afternoon in Scranton.

He addressed a big crowd at Lackawanna College about making college an option for more people and improving its value for students.

The president said focusing on the middle class is key.

"Over the past month, I've been visiting towns like Scranton and talking about what we need to do as a country to secure a better bargain for the middle class and everybody who is fighting to get into the middle class," Obama said. "We've got to have a national strategy that grows the economy in a broad-based way so that everyone who works hard has a chance to succeed. That's our goal. That's what we're fighting for."

Before the president spoke, Vice President Joe Biden said his son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, is doing well after undergoing a medical procedure at a Houston cancer center earlier this week.

Beau Biden was admitted after becoming weak and disoriented.

The White House has not said what he was treated for.
