Grab a bike and get ready to use some pedal power for a great cause!

  • What: Miles4Alex Fundraiser as part of the Birmingham Bike Festival
  • When: Sunday, August 25th 1pm
  • Where: Shain Park Birmingham

Miles4Alex is named in honor of Alexandra Graham, a 16-year-old West Bloomfield resident who lost her fight with bone cancer in 1999.

Money raised goes to the Children's Miracle Network to help fund Beaumont Children's Hospital's Pediatric Rehabilitation Bike Program, providing free, custom adaptive bikes for special needs children.  The event also supports the Pediatric Oncology Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic, providing care for childhood cancer survivors; and the Detroit2Nepal Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships, health education programs and toilet facilities for waste management for children in remote Himalayan villages in Nepal.

The fundraiser was developed by Richard Keidan, M.D., a Beaumont surgical oncologist, who created the D2N Foundation and spends three months a year leading the Foundation's work in Nepal.

FOX2 is proud to promote events that support Children's Miracle Network.  CMN is a national alliance of premier hospitals for children. The non-profit organization is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals across North America. Beaumont has been the only CMN affiliated Children's Miracle Network hospital in Southeast Michigan since 1988. Learn more here: http://foundation.beaumont.edu/childrens-miracle-network
