ATLANTA -

At some point, even the best of relationships can struggle the keep things fresh and interesting. Psychologist Wendy Dickinson, of Grow Counseling, says she helps troubles couples find their way back to each other.

"What we often find is that couples really wait too long to come into counseling," Wendy said. "They try to problem solve and troubleshoot; and, by the time they get in, there is so much that has gone into this argument or issue that it takes us a long time to kind of unravel it and get to the bottom of it."

She says there are 5 warning signs that you might be stuck in a relationship rut:

You keep fighting about the same things

"One of the things that it might indicate is there's something deeper going on.  It's not just about the dirty socks on the floor, it's representative of something bigger."

You can't really talk to each other

"That could be that conversations escalate, you have arguments, it could be that one partner is withdrawing."

You're growing apart

"A phrase that I hear a lot is, 'We just became roommates.'  So they're able to live in that same space together but they don't have that spark or that connection that drew them initially together."

You're avoiding each other

"You don't find yourself planning dates, or making time for each other. And if you do go out on a date night, you may find that you're just not enjoying it, there's too much in the way of the relationship."

You both feel stuck

"The way that counseling works is that we really work as a mediator, to help each partner hear the other partner, hear their heart, hear where they're coming from."
