Mike Ditka makes first appearance at Bears practice since `92

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Bears franchise is rich in history and on Tuesday, Marc Trestman brought some of that history to life for his players.

Trestman invited former coach Mike Ditka to what is believed to be Ditka's first Bears practice since he was fired in 1992.

Coach Ditka watched practice from upstairs at Halas Hall and then huddled up with the team afterwards.

The television sports analyst appears to have made an impression on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who said Ditka's talk was a good one.

Cutler said Ditka echoed the same things current coach Marc Trestman says daily. Trestman said Ditka's message was a great one about relationships among teammates and camaraderie, with money being the least significant portion of it.

Ditka remains a hero to Bears fans for leading the team to their only Super Bowl win after the 1985 season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Given their history, last season sure was an odd one for the Chicago Bears. Just as they finally managed to get things right on offense, their defense pulled off quite a disappearing act. Well, it's back. At least, the Bears think it's back.

The Chicago Bears know who's backing up starting quarterback Jay Cutler. Now they'd like to know their defense is backing up their offense.
