Police Search For Suspect After Two Brothers Shot With Shotgun

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A chaotic scene unfolded before neighbors in the areas of Percy and Delhi Streets in North Philadelphia as police, tactical units and SWAT responded to a double shooting.

Two brothers, a 20 year old and 23 year old were both shot with a shotgun around 6:30 a.m., Monday evening. One was hit in the chest, the other was hit in the back.

One of the brothers drove them both to Temple hospital. The 20-year old died in the hospital, and the other is now stable.

Witnesses told police that the gunman ran into a home on the 3900 block of Percy where the shootings happened on the street. Police thought they had a barricade situation. They locked down the house and eventually went in, but found nothing but a shotgun in the back.

Police also locked down another house nearby on Delhi Street but no one was there. Police also found a shotgun in the back of that house.

In a strange twist, police say two 16 year old girls were stabbed on Percy last night in the same location.

"We're not sure if either of shooting victim today or shooter were involved, but we believe they are related. We don't know if it's a retaliation, but we believe there is some relation," says Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police.

Police say they have an id on a possible suspect. They're looking for him. They're also reviewing surveillance from a store up the block to see if it captured anything. They are not yet releasing the victims' or suspected gunman's identity.

While a thousand people streamed into a courtyard at St. Lucy Parish in the Bronx to watch a reenactment of the crucifixion of Christ, next door a steady trickle of believers quietly collected water from that church's grotto, taking the liquid home to heal, cure, and bless.
