Tree goes crashing through roof during weekend storm

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGTOWN, Ariz. -

A most unwelcome visitor for a woman in Youngtown over the weekend. A huge Palo Verde tree came crashing through her roof. It happened during a windstorm.

The tree smashing into the roof was just the start. The worry now is what happens if we get rain -- and the crack in the ceiling turns into something much worse.

The winds kicked up and the tree fell down. A huge Palo Verde. Imagine this monster crashing onto your roof.

"I really thought it was a bomb or a plane crash nearby, we have Luke out here. You never know," says Joan Norberg.

The tree took out asphalt shingles and buckled the roof. It left wood cracked and splintered. The apartment was no match for Mother Nature's fury.

"It is absolutely through the roof, literally coming into my bedroom and last night I could hear it rocking up there, could it come on through?"

And on the inside?

"This is where the ceiling cracked and this door wouldn't open, it had shifted."

That crack in the ceiling does not look good.

This all happened on Saturday and there is a lot of damage. A tree went through the roof right but it is Monday and Joan has called the landlord and still no one has come out here. So what gives?

We called Farnsworth Realty and Management Company to see if we could get some help for Joan.

Monday afternoon crews were hard at work fixing the roof. The next step is removing the tree. Part of the tree didn't fall over.

Nobody wants its tons of wood crashing into the apartment or apartments close by.
