The list of artists who have recorded his songs reads like a Mount Rushmore of rock and country music. Jimi Hendrix, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt all have at least one Chip Taylor song in their catalogues. Tuesday night, the Grammy Museum honors him by presenting An Evening with Chip Taylor, but the man who wrote "Wild Thing", and "Angel of the Morning" stopped by Good Day LA first.

So who was the real life inspiration for "Wild Thing"? "Over the years I've said it was many different people. I wrote it real fast and it wasn't quite finished so I went to the studio and asked the engineers to turn the lights out and I just said whatever came to my mind."

Chip... who was born James Wesley Voight, is from a pretty accomplished family. One brother Barry, is a world renowned geologist, credited with devising a formula that predicts earthquakes. His other brother? Oscar winning actor Jon Voight, who will be at Tuesday night's event.
