SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Joseph Hardman was doing his job. Trying to save a life with CPR, when suddenly his own life was in jeopardy.

Watch Deena Centofanti's full video report above.

He's in the ambulance giving CPR to a heart attack patient. A paramedic for 15 years, Joseph Hardman realizes he's having a heart attack himself.

"When I started to have that full body sweat come over me, that's when I knew I was in trouble. That got progressively worse to the point where it became debilitating. I was unable to function at all by the time I got to the hospital," Hardman explained to Fox 2.

Both Hardman and his patient end up at the DMC's Harper Hospital, where 24/7 Cardio Team One are in place.

Hardman is back home recovering, and should be back in the business of saving lives in a few months.
