FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - A Flagstaff man charged with two counts of sexual assault won't be allowed out of jail while his case makes its way through the courts.

Flagstaff Justice of the Peace Howard Grodman denied bond Friday for 22-year-old Gregory Woody Junior.

Police say that Woody raped, beat and choked two women in Flagstaff, and that DNA linked him to the crimes that happened six months apart.

When the judge asked Woody in court Friday whether he understood the nature of the crimes, Woody said he didn't remember what happened.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that the attacks had created an environment of fear in the community. Fliers with a composite sketch went up in businesses, bars, taxis and on public buses.

Female police officers went undercover downtown and baited Woody.
