Trenton Turmoil

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Sibile and Bill hit the streets of Trenton where another shooting took place.  This time, two police officers were shot and a man is dead after a domestic violence call turned deadly.  It happened on the corner of Olden and Hobart Avenue.

Sibile was able to talk to the County Prosecutor who told her that as the suspect was leaving the home, the police officers came up and that's when the suspect shot both of them, one in the back and one in the shoulder.  Then, the police officers returned fire killing the man.

She also had the chance to speak with a reformed Trenton gang member who goes by the name, Almighty Blood Messiah.  He told her "that most people don't have anything else going on but the streets, and everything comes with the streets."

There was a letter to Governor Christie asking for 75 additional officers which was denied, and people in the neighborhood are hoping that these recent shootings will help change his mind.  However, a Minister who Sibile spoke with said "look at this situation in Trenton, and the police are not safe, how can the neighbors feel safe."

Back in the studio the Chasers discuss the best ways to help Trenton.  Some believe more police is the key, others feel that there may need to be a change in the local government.  Either way something needs to be done before these deadly encounters become the new normal for the people of Trenton.

Last week President Obama signed into law the Sean David Goldman Act which authorizes the State Department to take forceful measures against a country that doesn't help to return an American child held there. Oftentimes, these cases of international child abduction occur when parents are divorced and one parent is holding a child or children from the other parent in a different country. Sadly, that is the case for Plainsboro woman Bindu Philips.

Leisure Village is a quiet adult community in Lakewood, New Jersey. It's the last place that you would expect to see a swastika carved in front of someone's home, but sadly Fred Blumberg and his partner said that is exactly what happened to them. Blumberg explained that as an older gay couple they've dealt with harassment for years.
