CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A school bus carrying 10 people collided with an SUV Thursday morning in the Woodlawn neighborhood, authorities said.

The accident occurred on the South Side about 7:15 a.m. in the 6700 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, according to authorities.

Five of the passengers are special needs adults, according to Fire Media Affairs.

While authorities initially believed children may have been on the bus, the Chicago Fire Department later determined only adults were aboard.

One person was taken in stable-but-serious condition to University of Chicago Hospitals, along with three others who were in good condition, according to the fire department.

Another two people were taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital, the fire department said.

Traffic is shut down on East 67th Street between South Champlain and South St. Lawrence avenues, police said.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
