Amanda Bynes On Extended Hold At Hospital

Posted: Updated:
(FOX 11 / AP) Effective immediately: Amanda Bynes has been placed on an extended 30-day psychiatric hold ahead of a scheduled conservatorship hearing Friday.

TMZ reports Bynes' doctors at the psychiatric hospital where the actress has been placed during the last two weeks requested an emergency hearing with the judge overseeing her case. Her doctors determined Bynes was not in the right state of mind to attend the hearing- and the judge agreed, granting an LPS Conservatorship, which puts the 27-year-old's mental health under the temporary care of the state.

Meanwhile, her parents are still awaiting temporary conservatorship over their daughter, which would allow them to control her finances.

Her parents noted in court documents filed on July 26 that they were "deeply concerned" over their daughter's behavior.

From Olga Ospina:

Amanda Bynes' psychiatric hold has been extended another 30 days, and Amanda's parents have been granted temporary conservatorship of their daughter. At a hearing this morning at Ventura County Superior Court, Judge Glen M. Reiser granted conservatorship over Bynes to her mother effective through September 30th. This puts Amanda's parents in control of their daughter's finances and her well being. They will determine where she lives and what medical treatment she receives.

For now, the former child star will remain hospitalized at Hillmont Psychiatric Center in Ventura County, as Bynes' doctor had petitioned the court for a 30 day extension on the psychiatric hold and the judge granted that request. Once that mandated stay at the psychiatric facility expires, it will be up to Amanda's parents to decide what further medical treatment is necessary.

The next hearing in this case is scheduled for September 30th at 9 a.m. At that time the judge could extend the parent's conservatorship.
