Police: Man shoots 2 teens in alleged home invasion attempt

LITHONIA, Ga. -

A 21-year-old man shot two teenagers allegedly trying to enter his home in DeKalb County on Monday, according to police.

Authorities said three teenagers went to a home on Donna Way in Lithonia with plans to break in. A 15-year-old and a 14-year-old knocked on the door. When no one answered, police say they went to the back and broke in.

That's when the two teens came face to face with the homeowner, who fired at them.

The injured teens ran out of the house and down the road.

Larry Turner said he saw them in a cul-de-sac and called 911.

"They were pretty bad. One had lacerations down his arm, his shirt was torn," Turner said. "He was losing a lot of blood."

Authorities said a third teen, who had been in a getaway car, also ran. That 15-year-old was caught by police a few blocks later. The vehicle had been reported stolen on Sunday in DeKalb County, FOX 5's Denise Dillon reports.

The injured teens were taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Neighbors said that the home had been burglarized before.

"They had a break-in two years before and they got away, so second time they come around, this is what they end up getting," said John Piert.

The homeowner was not injured. Police said no charges will be filed against him.
