CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two teens were ordered held Saturday on $1 million bail and a third on $900,000 after they were charged in the shootings of a 4-year-old girl and a man earlier this week on the Southwest Side.

Laquan Waters, 18, and a 15-year-old boy were ordered held on $1 million bail, and Tyrese Pearson, 17, on $900,000, for allegedly shooting 4-year-old Khalise Weatherspoon while she was riding her scooter around the house where the shooting happened in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on July 29. Also shot was Fernando Brunt, 31. It was unclear if Brunt was the target.

Pearson allegedly acted as the lookout while Waters and the 15-year-old are accused of firing at the home near 71st and Rockwell, which had bystanders and children outside, Cook County Assistant's State Attorney Anthony Lucafo said.

Brunt was shot in his buttocks, while the little girl was shot in the abdomen, according to police reports. Both were taken to the hospital and have been released.

In an interview Saturday, Brunt, who said he grew up with the girl's father, said that doctors didn't even try to remove the bullet that hit him because it was too deep in his tissue.

He didn't know the men who shot at him, he said.

"This kind of violence is senseless," he said, "to the point where kids are scared to go outside and enjoy what should be their childhood."

Brunt was released from Mount Sinai Hospital late Wednesday and said he's doing "pretty good."

"I'm taking it one day at a time, but I still feel pain with certain motions," he said. "This is something I'll have to deal with for five or 10 years now."
