Darren Daulton Returns To Philly, Thanks Fans For Support

PHILADELPHIA -

Darren Daulton thanked fans for the support he's received since a brain surgery last month during a statement delivered Friday night at Citizens Bank Park.

The former Phillies catcher and All-Star is in town for alumni weekend as the 1993 team is honored 20 years after their pennant-winning campaign.

During his talk to the press, which lasted just under four minutes, Daulton told the city's fans they're number one and said "thanks to all of you guys."

"I fell like Philly is my home and my family," he said.

Daulton, who is on leave from his job as a radio host at 97.5-FM "The Fanatic," said he's "having a little problem talking, but I'll get better."

"Dutch" has been recovering from his surgery and receiving treatment near a home in Florida but said, "I still love being around today," especially for alumni weekend.

FOX 29's Howard Eskin tweeted shortly after Daulton's appearance that the popular former player "sounds great with only a few issues from brain surgery."

Daulton is in town for this weekend's Alumni events at The Bank. The Phillies 1993 pennant-winning team is set to be honored.

Daulton also did a phone interview with 97.5-FM's Mike Missanelli on Thursday afternoon, joking around, talking about how much he appreciated the fans in Philadelphia, and saying he felt good, even suggesting that he may begin working out again soon.
