WASHINGTON -

Every now and then a baby comes into the world in unlikely places, like the car on the way to the hospital or at home.

But Thursday morning, a woman gave birth on the platform at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro station.

The baby boy, named Amir, came two weeks early.

His mom was on her way to a doctor's appointment at the time.

Thankfully, an EMT from Dumfries, Virginia was there and wasted no time helping deliver the baby in a very unusual place.

That co-incidence was not lost on the Amir's grandma.

FOX 5 welcomed to our studio that lovely lady, Autumn Manka, the EMT who delivered little Amir!
