Authorities say a cheerleader for the NFL's Arizona Cardinals who served in the Army in Iraq is accused of assaulting her boyfriend.

Scottsdale police say 29-year-old Megan Welter was arrested July 20 on charges of disorderly conduct, alleged assault and criminal damage.

Welter told police she and her boyfriend went to a Scottsdale bar to celebrate her birthday. The couple had been dating for six months.

Welter says the couple later argued over past relationships. A police report says Welter hit, scratched and pulled the hair of her unidentified boyfriend.

Authorities didn't immediately know Thursday if Welter has an attorney.

Welter entered officer training school in 2007 and served a 16-month tour in Iraq.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
