Attempted robbery suspect drags woman along sidewalk

PHOENIX -

Police are searching for a suspect who grabbed a woman's purse and dragged her along a sidewalk and parking lot before giving up.

This happened on July 3 at 5:30 p.m. while the 58-year-old victim was walking in the area of 16th Street and Bethany Home Road.  The suspect approached her from behind and grabbed the purse, but the victim held on.

The suspect was last seen fleeing at a high rate of speed in a white Pontiac Grand Am.

Authorities describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, 25 - 30 years old, 5' 11" tall, weighing 210 pounds.  At the time of the attempted robbery, he was wearing a grey t-shirt and shorts.

The victim was not injured.
