2 men shot; suspect still on the loose

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -

It was a violent night at a Phoenix apartment complex as shots were fired, two people were hit and the shooter is still on the loose.

This happened near 32nd Street and Roosevelt, just north of the Celebrity Theatre.

Phoenix police tell us they responded to a shots fired call.  When they arrived at the scene, they found one man outside the complex and another inside the apartment.

The victims, both identified as Hispanic men in their 30s, were taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

"At this point, they're serious and in surgery and that's about all we got," said Lt. George Ramirez. "We have limited information on any victims who actually saw it happening."

Police have been scouring the neighborhood, looking for the suspect, but haven't made any arrests.

We're told they did find a sport utility vehicle with its lights on and doors open nearby, but still aren't sure if it's related to the shooting.

Investigators are waiting for a warrant so they can search the apartment.

If you have any information about this case, call the Phoenix police at (602) 262-6151 or call Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS.  You can remain anonymous and receive a cash award for tips leading to an arrest or indictment.

You've got a few more weeks to enjoy SummerStage, New York's annual performing arts showcase that's 28 years running. But it's not just music: there is dance, comedy, theater, you name it. There are several shows weekly at 14 different parks throughout the five boroughs. A recent show at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park paid tribute to Pete Seeger. Most of the shows are free and are funded by tickets purchased for the some of the bigger acts.
