Hundreds of NYC fast food workers plan 'strike'

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Hundreds of fast food workers in the New York City area are expected to walk off the job Monday.

It's part of a nationwide movement called "Fast Food Forward".

Employees are asking for their pay to be increased to $15 an hour and they want to form a union.

Members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus will join fast-food clergy and community supporters on the strike lines as support for the campaign.

The workers say the fast food industry is making profits, while its workers are forced to rely on public assistance just to afford the basics.

Fast food walkouts are planned Monday in New York City, Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit, Milwaukee, Kansas City and Flint, MI.
