PD: Man shot, another beaten during drug deal gone bad

PHOENIX -

Phoenix Police say one man was shot and another was beaten during a drug deal gone bad at an apartment near Indian School Road and 28th Street.

A 26-year-old man and his 24-year-old male friend allegedly went to the Bell View apartments to buy meth on Friday night.

Police say the drugs weren't there, but they gave a suspect money and said they would come back.

At around 9:30 p.m. they returned and at some point, the 26-year-old was shot and his friend was beaten, police say.

The shooting victim was taken to a hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Officers say there were several people in the apartment at the time of the shooting, but almost everyone had left by the time detectives arrived with a warrant.

Two persons of interest were identified and interviewed.

No arrests have been made. Police are continuing to investigate.
