Police release IDs of 2 found dead at Phoenix home

PHOENIX (AP) - Police have released the names of a man and woman found dead inside a Phoenix home in an apparent murder-suicide.

Phoenix police on Friday announced that the two were 49-year-old Edwin Russell and 48-year-old Judy Scism.

They say the circumstances surrounding the deaths remains under investigation.

Police were called to the home on July 19 to conduct a welfare check on the couple.

Friends say they hadn't seen the man and woman for several days and couldn't contact them.

Police entered the home and found the two bodies.

They say the man and woman appeared to have been dead for several days.

Police say it will be up to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death.
