Fugitive from NYC arrested in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -

Henry County authorities arrested a fugitive suspected in a brutal attack on his girlfriend in New York.

Dartanyun Kingsberry is accused of slashing his girlfriend with a box cutter last month.

Police say he made threatening calls to the victim, saying he was in Georgia and would not be found.

Officers arrested him in Locust Grove on Thursday.

The 23-year old is facing several charges including attempted murder. Authorities say he punched and repeatedly slashed the victim in the face, back and legs. The attack required more than 2,700 stitches.

New York City detectives transported Kingsberry back to New York on Thursday.
