CAMP VERDE, Ariz. -

Three suspected drug traffickers were arrested over the weekend after a traffic stop on I-17 in Yavapai County.

A deputy stopped a red car for speeding and found the driver, Rashon Buchanan of Michigan, had a rental car agreement based in Michigan that did not permit out of state travel. The rental agreement had also been issued to a female Michigan resident who was not in the vehicle.

Deputies say that Buchanan became increasingly nervous during their conversation. Passenger Allen Burnett of California claimed he had just moved from California to Mesa and was riding with Buchanan to drop off the other passenger, Davonte Conley, of Michigan.

The deputy suspected contraband inside the vehicle and called in a drug-sniffing canine. While checking the vehicle's exterior, the dog alerted to the presence of drugs. The deputy then found a suitcase in the trunk with 6 packages of marijuana, weighing 6.4 pounds, YCSO said.

The men were transported to the Camp Verde Detention Center.

Buchanan was charged with transportation of marijuana for sale, possession of narcotics, displaying false information, and identity theft. Buchanan remains in-custody on a $6,000 bond.

Burnett and Conley were charged with transportation of marijuana for sale and possession of narcotics. Burnett has been released on a $4,000 bond and Conley remains in-custody on a $4,000 bond.
