Reward up to $15,000 for arrest in shooting of Cobb officer

SMYRNA, Ga. -

A reward of $5,000 is now raised to up to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot a Cobb County police officer while trying to escape on foot just weeks ago.

Police say the vest worn by Officer Danny Rogers bore the impact of the bullet and, possibly, saved the officer's life. SWAT joined Cobb County officers who fanned out in an hours-long manhunt in the area of the Concord Chase apartments on Hurt Road in Smyrna – where the shooting occurred in the early morning hours that day, July 12.

At the time, the shooter was described as a black male with a dark complexion last seen wearing a white T-shirt and khaki pants. He had low-cut hair with twists.

Anyone with information regarding the shooter's whereabouts is asked to contact Cobb County Police Department or their local law enforcement agency.
