DETROIT (WJBK) -

Nina Wilson still cries for the son she lost to senseless violence. 15-year-old Marcel Sims was a sophomore at Mumford High that liked to box and wanted to go to college.

"I miss my baby so much. He had so much to live for. He had so many plans. You guys don't know how much you took away from me," Wilson said.

She last saw her son alive the evening of July 18, 2008 when he asked if he could go out with his friends. She said yes.

Sims and his friend went to a party at the American Serbian Memorial Hall on Van Dyke near Outer Drive. Sensing a bad situation, they tried to leave. Both were shot, and Sims was killed.

Sims' family said that there were around 100 kids there that night. Someone saw something. They are hoping that now five years later someone will come forward.

"It's not fair that we don't even know why or how or who did it. At least let us have that," said Jaz-Mine Cymone, Sims' sister.

Information leading to an arrest is worth $2,500. You can remain antonymous.

"When someone calls our call center, they become a tip number. No one ever knows their name," said Crime Stoppers of Michigan President John Broad.

"Please, please, please ... speak up," Wilson said. "Come forward."

You can report a tip by calling 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
