Crews recover dead body from Mesa canal

Posted: Updated:

MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- The body of an unidentified man has been pulled out of a canal in Mesa.

Mesa police say someone spotted the body floating in the water Tuesday afternoon and notified authorities.

The Mesa fire and police departments responded to the scene about 3:30 p.m. and found the body.

Authorities say there was no need to send divers into the water because the body was near the edge.

Police say they haven't identified the man yet because he didn't have any identification on him.

The body has been turned over to the Maricopa County medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
