Bulger nemesis Howie Carr reacts to death of Stephen 'Stippo' Rakes

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Radio personality and Boston Herald columnist Howie Carr shared his reaction to the death of Stephen 'Stippo' Rakes with FOX 25's Maria Stephanos Friday.

Rakes, who claims he was extorted by James 'Whitey' Bulger and his associates, was found dead in a wooded area near Mill Street in Lincoln, Mass. Wednesday.

Sources told FOX 25 Friday that Rakes' death is being investigated as suspicious.

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office said Thursday that there were no obvious signs of trauma to his body.

Authorities are conducting an autopsy to determine the 59-year-old Quincy man's cause and manner of death.

Carr says he last saw Rakes in court at the Bulger trial Tuesday. He describes Rakes as someone who was very health conscious and would sometimes be seen riding his bicycle to court.
