Yasiel Puig, DeAndre Jordan Talk to FOX11 on ESPYs Red Carpet

Los Angeles, CA -

On the red carpet of the ESPYs, FOX 11's James Koh spoke with Yasiel Puig about his All Star snub and to DeAndre Jordan about his incredible dunk over Detroit Piston's Brandon Knight.

Puig was nominated for Best Breakthrough Athlete while Jordan was nominated for Best Play.

"I understand why I wasn't chosen as an All Star," said Puig through a translator. "I only played 30 some odd games and I understand why it was the way it was.  My main goal is to help the team and get to the World Series.  I'm very excited and very grateful for the fans that I have."

Both LA nominees ended up losing their respective bids Wednesday night as Puig lost his nomination for Best Breakthrough Player to Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers while Jordan was bested by Jadeveon Clowney for Best Play.

Despite the loss, Jordan will long be remembered not only for the devastating dunk but the now infamous "dunk face" he put on after the jam that ended up putting Knight on his back.

"That came out of nowhere to be honest with you," Jordan said.  "When the dunk happened, I looked at one of my teammates, it was Lamar Odom and he was looking at me like ‘Ah, that was nasty,' so I just gave him the face back and we can kind of credit that to L.O. as well."
