Sandy Swadish from GreatStaff Solutions comes into the Fox 2 Job Shop in an effort to find fill four hard-to-place jobs.

Swadish offers her take on the job market: We are seeing an uptick in most industries we work with, automotive, medical, manufacturing, plastics and professional services.  Many of what used to be temporary or temp to hire positions are now becoming Direct Hire as our clients are realizing to get the right candidate, a full time permanent positions needs to be offered.  From a Recruiting stand point we are finding many of our ideal candidates are coming from current positions rather than being unemployed.  This is a significant change from last year.

College graduate 

Has studied engineering or has a degree in engineering.

Prepare quotation packages for customers.

Work hand in hand with the sales team while they are traveling on the road.

We plan to mold this person into Regional Sales Manager.

Sit in on conference calls with customers.

Set-up and Run sales meetings.

Set-up and Run machine order review meetings.

Maintenance Manager, Westland, DH, $70K - $80K

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  

  • Interact with vendors in procurement of cost effective components.
  • Participate with plant engineering on equipment layouts.
  • Supervise and assign work orders to Maintenance Technicians and assure proper safety, environmental, mechanical and housekeeping procedures are followed.
  • Maintain production equipment and overall plant facility in optimal operating condition.
  • Perform and track preventative maintenance activities via database format.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians in trouble shooting and repairing equipment.
  • Assure proper inventory levels of required replacement parts for cell/area equipment.
  • Assist the Process/Manufacturing Engineer in implementing process improvement changes.
  • Participate in team problem solving activities (Kaizens, 5S, Communication Meetings, etc.)
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (Quality Manual, Associate Handbook, etc.)
  • Responsible for maintaining software program.
  • Assist in development of Maintenance Department budget, adhere to budget requirements.
  • Full supervisory responsibilities for employees in the Maintenance Department.


  • 8-10 years maintenance management experience in manufacturing.
  • High level of proficiency in repairing electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, programmable controller problems. 
  • Experience in plastics molding highly desired.

Buyer, Plymouth – Direct Hire;  Pay $60K-$80K

  • Professional level support of the corporate purchasing department strategies, processes, and activities. 
  • Experience purchasing metal/iron castings for discs. 
  • ERP experience is a must. 
  • Degree is a must.
  • Auto industry experience highly preferred, 3 years minimum experience. 
  • Fluent in Microsoft Dynamics Exacta preferred, but if person has SAP, Oracle experience, this may be sufficient.  
  • Experience with direct negotiations and with cost savings.  Responsible for direct material RFQs in support of new program and engineering change requests.
  • Minimal travel, usually in Michigan.  
  • Very "hands on" attitude. 

Controller/Bookkeeper (Farmington Hills, MI) – Direct Hire: $65K-$90K/year

Provide leadership and direction to the Accounting, HR, Administrative team to achieve excellence in and timeliness of financial reporting and be responsible for the operation of the accounting department, the application of principles of accounting, and maintaining the general accounting system. The successful individual will be expected to assist in enhancing profitability and productivity in a high integrity, team orientated way that assures internal and external customer satisfaction. The successful person should be one of high integrity, honesty, DRIVE, problem solver with a positive attitude!

Summary of Responsibilities:
• Supports the company's mission, vision, values and goals in the performance of daily activities.
• Ensures that financial control policies/procedures and audit requirements are meeting company standards.
• Assures financial integrity of all accounting and analytical requirements for the company.
• Oversees the development and training of accounting team to stay current with financial practices and provide them with the proper tools and guidance to perform their duties.
• Focus on continuous automation of accounting systems.
• Encourages high integrity and honesty within the company.
• Supports the company's vision that employees are assets of the company and provide timely, accurate and professional HR support to the company and its employees
• Provide Administrative support to all aspects of the company as needed to provide functional and efficient operation. 

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Controller or Sr. Accounting position.
• Must have project based cost accounting and chargeability rates experience.
• Some experience using IT and accounting knowledge to automate processes.
• Experience with a Service based business.
• Must have experience with Quick Books (current versions).
• Must be strong with Excel for reporting analysis.
• Experience working in a leadership capacity
• Experience in HR and administration

Additional Requirements:

• Experience in the telecom/real estate a plus, exp, working in small entrepreneurial environment highly desired
