Weekend Roundup: Torres Empire Car Show, Concern Foundation Block Party and Vaud & The Villains

Posted: Updated:

FOX 11's food and fun expert Mar Yvette searches the Los Angeles area for some of the best places to eat, drink, shop and have a great time. Featured guests then swarm our FOX Television Center parking lot every Thursday morning between 9am and 10am on Good Day LA, creating a big party as one jam-packed segment known as the Weekend Roundup!

Here's more information about the guests we featured:

Mr. Cartoon at Torres Empire Car Show

Low...rider...drives a little slower. Oh yeah, it's going to be a cray-cray day of lowriders, bikes and live music (Bones, Thugs, & Harmony!) at the Torres Empire Lowrider Car show on Sunday, July 14 at the LA Convention Center. While most of the action is for car aficionados, the event also has entertainment for the kids with bounce houses, custom bicycle and skateboard shows, food, and more. Stop by the Sanctiond booth and meet famed tattoo artist Mister Cartoon and check out and the Sanctiond Auto Team car products.

Concern Foundation Block Party

It's the biggest party of the year and it's your chance to join in the fun and raise money for a fabulous cause! The 39th Annual Block Party takes place on Saturday, July 13 on the "New York" back lot of Paramount Studios with drinks, desserts and all-you-can-eat tastings from more than 60 of LA's favorite restaurants and caterers including Pink's Hot Dogs and Duverger Macarons, plus tons of live entertainment, dancing, games, photos and auctions. It all raises money for the Concern Foundation, which uses 95% of net proceeds directly for research*. *Tickets are available in advance only (www.concernfoundation.org) but if you can't attend, donations in any amount to Concern are greatly appreciated!

Vaud & The Villains

They're baaack! Vaud and the Villains, the world's greatest (and only?!) 19-piece,1930s-style New Orleans orchestra and cabaret is ready to sashay, shimmy, swagger, swing and sing on Saturday, July 13 at the annual fundraising bash in Downtown LA known as Twenty Wonder. Presented by Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles, the evening is a bursting expo of art, science, music and comedy, plus an all-star roller derby bout featuring LA Derby Dolls vs. San Diego Derby Dolls. Proceeds benefit DSALA's efforts to support those born with Trisomy 21/Down syndrome. Just remember: You must be 21 or older to attend!
