Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago saw more than 500 murders in 2012. More than 200 people have already been killed in the city in 2013, and it's only July. DNAinfo.com's Chicago team spoke with the families of every victim.

Shamus Toomey, DNAinfo Chicago's managing editor, told Good Day Chicago that their exclusive story explores who these 204 victims were, who loved them and who they left behind.

The comprehensive study includes an interactive timeline of the homicides, a breakdown of the type of crimes that caused these deaths, a heat map of the violence in Chicago by neighborhood and extensive stories about the lives these victims led.

DNAinfo gave FOX 32 News a special preview of "2013 Murder in Chicago: The Human Toll" on Thursday.
