DETROIT (WJBK) -

Known collectively as The Weird, the famous muralists from Germany were invited to Detroit by the Interstate Gallery on Gratiot.

Their signature style is popping up all around Eastern Market. They have a sponsor, and more importantly permission.

"Totally legal. First we ask the owner of the building for permission, and then we think about the wall," said HRVB.

"We try to use our charm to get permission, and then we start painting."

The Weird is aware of Detroit's growing appeal, but don't dismiss them as scenesters. They are serious about their craft and trying to paint as many murals as possible in the few weeks they are here.

"It's our life. It's our work. It's the whole lifestyle," said Cone.
