DETROIT (WJBK) -

Katie Stark is a lifelong fan of the Tigers who wanted to spend her 27th birthday celebrating with friends and family at Comerica Park.

The June 22 game was going great. The Tigers beat the Red Sox by a score of 10-3, and Max Scherzer became the second Tigers starter to go 10-0.

"When we went to leave after the fireworks, my wheelchair was not where I left it. Apparently somebody must have taken off with it," said Stark.

She told us they parked her wheelchair exactly where an usher instructed never thinking it would be a problem.

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at just eight months old, all she wanted was to be comfortable for nine innings.

"I didn't sit in it because I like to be as normal as possible, and I don't like to sit in my wheelchair for very long. I like to sit in a normal seat with everybody around me and cheer them on just like everybody else," Stark said.

The missing Nova wheelchair is bluish purple in color and has a cream DTE tag attached. Without it, Stark's movement is limited. She is having to hold off on long distance outings because they are just too much physically. She now spends a lot of time at home with her dog watching the Tigers on TV.

"Who would want to steal a wheelchair? It doesn't make sense to me, but somebody must have needed it more than I did," Stark said.

"I hope whoever took it, they didn't take it just to throw it in the street. I hope they took it because they needed it," said mother Theresa Buero.

We're told Stark's family did file a complaint with Comerica Park, as well as with Detroit police.

We have since reached out to Comerica Park. They said they are aware of the situation and will try to help the family out as much as possible.
