Remembering Eric Marsh

Posted: Updated:
PRESCOTT, Ariz. -

The wife of Eric Marsh, the eldest of the Granite Mountain Hot Shots -- killed while battling the Yarnell Hill Fire shared some memories Thursday in Prescott.

Eric Marsh was the crew's superintendent and had nearly a quarter century of experience battling wildfires.

"I wanted my husband to do what he loved," said Amanda Marsh.

"He was the most amazing person I have ever met in my life.  He was strong, but he was so compassionate."

"My husband's heart was immense and he was incredibly funny and he loved me more than I've ever been loved in my life."

"Eric and I don't have children, but he said that all the guys on the crew were his kids and he meant that very sincerely."

"I know that there are so many thoughts and prayers that are with me and everybody else who has suffered a tremendous loss."

"We are all hot shot wives, hot shot sisters, hot shot brothers, hot shot mothers, hot shot fathers and hot shot friends and we all have a strength in us that many of us don't even know yet."

Amanda and Eric met 6 years ago at a Denny's restaurant in Prescott Valley.   They had been married for 3 years.

A memorial service will be held for the firefighters on Tuesday at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. It starts and 11 a.m. and is open to the public.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.
