Okla. man creates fallen firefighter tribute video

Updated:

An Oklahoma man put together a tribute video for the 19 fallen firefighters in the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Alton Eugene created "Hope Song" after the devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma.

But when he heard about those 19 brave men killed while fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire, he knew his song could serve as method to mourn and heal.

That's when Eugene made a tribute to the fallen firefighters as a backdrop to his song.

The "Hope Song" is on iTunes, but Eugene is putting together a special Arizona version that should be available within the next few days.

He says he will donate the money from the Arizona downloads to the families of the victims.

FOX 10's Rick D'Amico talks to Eugene to learn more about the inspiration behind the song.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
