DETROIT (WJBK) -

The Masonic Temple has been in the news a lot lately, but despite what you may have heard, a representative said the building is not in jeopardy of bankruptcy, and there are a lot of exciting things on tap.

"This is a building that was built in 1926. The architecture, the artwork is beyond beautiful," said Brad Dizik, who is a consultant for the Masonic Temple.

There are nearly 1,100 rooms inside the Masonic Temple. Its theaters offer some of the best acoustics in the region. Some of the world's biggest acts have made history there. However, the icon fell on hard times and was just days away from the auction block until Jack White stepped in and donated more than $140,000 to cover an outstanding tax bill.

"We're discussing about bringing in a new management company, discussing bringing in various promoters to bring in new shows, bring in new acts," Dizik said.

You can imagine the local reaction when news reports claimed the Masonic Temple had filed for bankruptcy. Dizik, who is also a bankruptcy expert, said that could not be further from the truth.

"The Detroit Masonic Temple is in zero threat of facing any bankruptcy thanks to the generous donation of Jack White," he said.

The only one going through bankruptcy is the Detroit Masonic Temple Theater Company, a separate management company that is no longer associated with the building.

"We want to reassure everybody that we have a lot of exciting plans in the works, and we look forward as serving as a cornerstone to the rebuilding of this corridor," Dizik said.

The Masonic Temple has a few big shows planned for this upcoming August and September. For more information, visit www.themasonic.com.
