ATLANTA -

Gunfire erupted at a busy East Atlanta intersection after a fight in the street. Police had the suspected shooter in custody within minutes and a camera at the scene captured the chaos.

A video shot by Sebastian Davis of Rock 100.5's the Regular Guys Show shows the fight in the heart of the East Atlanta Village. It shows a rowdy group of people yelling and pushing each other in the middle of Glenwood and Flat Shoals avenues. And then, two shots were heard.

Police say it happened Saturday just before 2 a.m. No one was struck by those shots fired during the scuffle.

An Atlanta police officer working an off-duty detail at a bar nearby heard the shots, got the suspected shooter into handcuffs within minutes. The others scattered.

The 43-year-old suspect, identified by police as Deric Ryan, was injured in the takedown and was taken to Grady Detention for treatment.

Police say he was armed with a .38 caliber revolver.

The officer was also injured in the fight, but is expected to be okay.

The incident comes in the wake of several armed robberies and the shooting death of Patrick Cotrona in East Atlanta.

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
