SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -

Sandy Springs police released a photo of a white Jeep Cherokee wanted in connection with a Sunday morning hit-and-run that left a motorcyclist in critical condition.

The photo is taken from surveillance video at the Mosaic Apartments at 5675 Roswell Road. The sport-utility vehicle is shown having just driven through a gate at an exit at the apartment complex about 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

Police said, "The photo reveals a passenger in the Cherokee. It is believed that the Cherokee dropped off another person at the Mosaic prior to this photo. It is estimated the car was at the apartments for only a few minutes before leaving through the gated entrance seen in this photo."

Anyone with information regarding the passenger in the Jeep Cherokee or the vehicle itself is asked to contact Sandy Springs Police at 770-551-6900.

Police continue to search for the person behind the wheel of the vehicle that hit the  motorcyclist and then sped off.

A spokesperson for the Sandy Springs Police Department told FOX 5 News that the biker was traveling south on Roswell Road around 4 a.m. when he was hit by a vehicle described by witnesses as a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The vehicle then fled west on Interstate 285. The SUV is missing the front grill and bumper, police said.

The biker, identified as Alejandro Palombini, 22, of Buford, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center in critical condition.
